Issuing a statement, the media secretary of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation reported that a foreign tourist named Grigoryan Marin had expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan authorities and the Minister after her lost luggage was swiftly recovered.
Marin arrived on October 20, 2024, and found her bag missing at the airport. Following a report by Police Inspector Wasantha Kumara, security footage identified a woman from Badulla who had taken the bag.
The woman was subsequently arrested, and the Negombo Court ordered her to pay Rs. 600,000 in compensation.
Before departing, Marin thanked the airport authorities and Minister Vijitha Herath in a video message for their quick action. (NewsWire)
