Former Chairman of the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation, Upali Liyanage, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with alleged irregularities during his tenure.
Liyanage, who held the position under then-Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne, was taken into custody over a financial misconduct case linked to operations of the state-owned enterprise.
He is also a key witness in several ongoing court cases filed against former Minister Senaratne.
