Former Minister Gamini Lokuge (82) has passed away a short while ago, family sources confirmed Monday evening.
Lokuge, a veteran politician and longtime member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and later the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), served in several ministerial portfolios over his decades-long career, including as Minister of Sports, Energy, and Transport.
He represented the Colombo District in Parliament for multiple terms and was a prominent figure in national politics. (Newswire)
