Former Sri Lanka Cricketer arrested again with Heroin

Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Shehan Madushanka has been remanded until June 1 by the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate, Randika Lakmal Jayalath, after being arrested with 2 grams and 350 milligrams of heroin.

Madushanka was taken into custody on May 25 based on a tip-off received by Pannala Police. Officers said they found him hiding under a chair during a search of his residence in Alabodagama, Pannala, where the heroin was later discovered hidden inside a cricket trophy.

Police informed the court that Madushanka had been previously arrested for transporting drugs in a vehicle, and requested further time to question him regarding the source of the narcotics. The remand order was granted accordingly.

Madushanka, now 30, has not played competitive cricket since his initial arrest in 2020, when he was suspended by Sri Lanka Cricket following a drug possession charge. He is best known for taking a hat-trick on his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2018. (Newswire)
