Foundation Laid for ‘Thabo Mbeki Library’ at Ampegama Primary School

A new chapter in the history of Ampegama Primary School began today with the laying of the foundation stone for the ‘Thabo Mbeki Library’, named in honor of the former South African President.

His Excellency Thabo Mbeki, who graced the ceremony as chief guest, was joined by Gammadda Project leader Chevaan Daniel in launching the initiative aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure for the school’s 567 students.

The event, held at the school located in the Welivitiya-Divithura Division in Galle, also drew the participation of local officials including the Divisional Secretary, the Zonal Director of Education for Elpitiya, and the school’s Principal.

The library is envisioned as more than a collection of books—it is set to become a dynamic learning hub, offering students greater access to knowledge and tools essential for their academic growth. (Newswire)
