Four killed in three separate road accidents on Saturday


Four people were killed
in three separate road accidents reported across the country on Saturday (28th June).

In Wellawaya, a lorry travelling from Ella to Ethilwewa veered off a winding slope and plunged into a precipice on the Ella–Wellawaya road. The driver, a 34-year-old resident of Dungolla, Bandarawela, died upon admission to the Wellawaya Hospital.

In Norochcholai, two passengers who had got off a stalled bus at the Daluwa 06 junction on the Palaviya–Kalpitiya road were fatally struck by a lorry. The victims, aged 15 and 74, were residents of Ja-Ela and Negombo. Three others, including the lorry driver and his assistant, were injured and admitted to the Puttalam Hospital.

Meanwhile, in Homagama, a motorcycle rider died after colliding with a bus at the Pitipana junction on the High Level Road. The deceased was a 45-year-old man from Mawathgama, Homagama.
