Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader Udaya Gammanpila says he will hand over the two unpublished reports related to the investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks, only if the government vows to publish them.
Addressing the media today, the former MP questioned what would happen if the government fails to publish the reports after receiving them.
“Until the President or Government Spokesman Minister Vijith Herath vouch to publish the reports, I am not prepared to hand them over to the government,” he said.
Udaya Gammanpila further warned that if the government fails to publish the two reports within the requested 7-day period, he will take measures to release them to the public.
During a press conference earlier this week, the Sarvajana Balaya Colombo District candidate urged the Government to release two unpublished committee reports on the attacks. He warned that if the Government did not release them within a week, he would publish them online.
According to Gammanpila, a portion of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) report into the Easter Sunday attacks had not been presented to Parliament.
He further revealed that the Catholic Church has also claimed two additional unpublished reports prepared by committees led by I.M. Imam and A.N.J. de Alwis.
Responding to Gammanpila, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath called out the former, challenging him to hand over the two said reports to the government within the next three days.
“If Gammanpila has the reports, we will give him three days to submit them. It would make things easier for us,” Minister Herath said while addressing the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing held yesterday. (Newswire)
