General Election: SLFP faction to contest under “Gas Cylinder”

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction led by Nimal Siripala de Silva has decided to contest the upcoming general election with the alliance formed under the “Gas Cylinder” symbol.

The former minister speaking to media said that the decision was taken after deliberations by the party’s politburo and central working committee.

“However this decision to contest under this alliance applies only to this election,” de Silva stressed. The party will contest under a new symbol with a SLFP led alliance at the local government elections, he added.

He said that there were no conditions laid out by his party in contesting the upcoming elections under the alliance.
