The office of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has issued a statement contesting recent claims about the number of official vehicles allocated for his use and security purposes.
The statement labeled the information released by the Government Information Department as inaccurate.
It disputed the figures being discussed, asserting that they do not accurately represent the actual number of vehicles in use by the former president.
Additionally, the statement mentioned that, in accordance with written instructions from the Presidential Secretariat, three out of the six vehicles currently assigned to Mahinda Rajapaksa and his security are scheduled for return by Monday, October 21. Preparations for this handover are reportedly underway.
In contrast, the Government Information Department’s statement indicated that the former President has so far returned 8 out of 16 vehicles allocated to him. (Newswire)
