National Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Tissa Attanayake, has revealed that the combined opposition has secured control of 53 out of the 95 local councils where no single party had a clear majority and where elections were held among elected representatives to determine control.
He noted that the SJB alone had gained power in 22 of those 53 councils.
Attanayake further stated that the government has been unsettled by the outcome and is now resorting to attempts to alter the election process in response to the opposition’s success. (NewsWire)
