Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of Sri Lanka during the afternoon or night today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Accordingly, fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and North-central provinces. Showers may occur in the Southern province during the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night. Showers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Winds will be Southerly or variable in direction in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph.
The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
