President Anura Kumara Dissanayake criticized former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s recent comments about provisions for increasing salaries of public sector employees.
Wickremesinghe had claimed that funds had been allocated for a salary increase for public servants before the presidential election.
Dissanayake disputed this, stating that no such allocations were made by Wickremesinghe’s administration. “There were no funds allocated for a salary increase for state employees by the previous administration. If you’ve lost, please stay home,” Dissanayake said in response to Wickremesinghe’s comments urging the government to proceed with the planned salary increases.
He emphasized that the current government is focusing on the issue in the upcoming budget, despite Wickremesinghe’s earlier claims. Dissanayake also addressed claims suggesting that the government would fall within three to six months, affirming that their administration remains committed to rebuilding the country.
He further asserted that the NPP’s efforts would continue, stating, “We will not stop until our mission for this country is fulfilled.” (NewsWire)
