President’s Counsel Ronald Perera has placed bonds on behalf of President Ranil Wickremesinghe as an independent candidate for the upcoming Presidential Election.
Perera deposited the required amount this morning at the Election Commission Office in Rajagiriya.
Earlier this morning the Election Commission issued the Gazette notification announcing that the Presidential Election will be held on 21 September 2024, with nominations accepted on 15 August 2024.
Deposits for the election can be made from 8:30 am today until 12 noon on 14 August, the Election Commission said.
Candidates from recognized political parties must deposit Rs. 50,000, while other candidates must deposit Rs. 75,000. (Newswire)
