Indian actress Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42

 

Indian actress and model Shefali Jariwala, widely known for her appearance in the early 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, died Friday at her residence in Mumbai. She was 42.

According to Mumbai Police, Jariwala collapsed at her Oshiwara apartment and was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. She was declared dead upon arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Police have registered an accidental death report and stated that no foul play is suspected at this time.

Authorities said she had reportedly taken her routine medication along with an anti-aging injection on an empty stomach while fasting, which may have triggered a severe drop in blood pressure. Samples have been sent to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for toxicology and histopathology tests.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at Cooper Hospital on Saturday. Results are pending.

Jariwala gained instant fame with her appearance in Kaanta Laga in 2002 and later appeared in films and reality shows, including Bigg Boss 13. Her unexpected death has shocked fans and colleagues across the Indian entertainment industry.

“She was always full of life, smiling, and vibrant,” said fellow actress Vahbiz Dorabjee in a tribute. Several other celebrities including Mika Singh, Himanshi Khurana, and Aly Goni also shared their condolences on social media.

The funeral was held Saturday evening at Oshiwara Crematorium with family and close friends in attendance.

Jariwala is survived by her husband. She had no children. (Newswire)
