Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has responded to an indictment filed against him by the Attorney General over the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 70 million in connection with the Krrish deal. The charges were filed before the Colombo High Court.
Rajapaksa described the indictment as part of a “political witch hunt” by the National People’s Power (NPP) government. The case, filed nearly eight years after the initial investigation under the Yahapalanaya administration, has drawn criticism from Rajapaksa, who questioned the timing of the charges.
“It is evident that the present government has launched a political witch hunt against the Rajapaksa family. The NPP government seems to believe that by fabricating allegations against us, they can divert attention from their failures,” Rajapaksa said.
He expressed confidence in the judiciary, stating his belief in a fair outcome, while accusing the government of using the case to mask its shortcomings. (Newswire)
