President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has approved the establishment of investigative units to combat corruption and irregularities in local government institutions.
The approval was granted following a request made by Provincial Governors during a meeting at the President’s Office today (15 May).
During the discussion, it was noted that three times the fund from last year has been allocated to local councils this year.
As such, the Provincial Governors pointed out the importance of the systematic use and control of the allocated funds. (Newswire)
