Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardena says that he had never stated that current President Ranil Wickremesinghe is responsible for the infamous bond scam which took place in 2015.
“I have never said that Ranil Wickremesinghe is responsible for the central bank scandal. It’s the people appointed by him. Now, if someone appointed by me does something wrong, is it my fault?” the Minister said, responding to a question from a reporter.
“The only presidential candidate who has created and enacted a plan to revive the country is Ranil Wickremesinghe. Members and central committee members of any party are not slaves to those parties,” he further said, defending the SLPP MPs’ decision to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential elections.
