Johann Peries becomes first Sri Lankan to summit Antarctica’s Mount Vinson

Sri Lankan mountaineer Johann Peries has reached the summit of Mount Vinson, the highest mountain in Antarctica at 4,892 meters.

This feat marks a milestone, as Johann Peries becomes the first Sri Lankan to summit Mount Vinson.

On a mission to conquer the tallest mountain on each of the seven continents, Johann Peries became the second Sri Lankan to reach the summit of Mount Everest in Asia in 2018.

To date, he has also successfully scaled the world’s other highest peaks such as Mount Kosciuszko in Australia, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and Mount Elbrus in Europe. (Newswire)
