The Company recently introduced a digital initiative, Health@Home, which aims at giving the younger generation [ that is increasingly technologically savvy], all the information they are seeking to monitor their health, enabling them to reduce avoidable mortality and morbidity.
One such app titled the “WeCare Mother and child” app, was launched on 31st August at the annual sessions of the Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Sri Lanka held at the Galadari Hotel. “It is an app that gives its users the freedom to record a lot of interesting and day to day changes in their physical and emotional wellbeing during their gestation period and can be downloaded from the google and apple play stores free of charge” said Praveen Visvakumaran, Country Manager for Sri Lanka- Mega Lifesciences.
Dr Binu Joy, MD, CEO Health@Home Digital Division, Mega Lifesciences, who leads the team involved in developing the application, flew down especially to present the app at the session, under the topic ‘Challenges in Obstetric care & Information delivery-How digital platforms Help’.
Elaborating on its uses Dr Joy said, the app is intuitive and very user friendly. “There is an ‘in app’ kick counter to record the baby movements, she can upload and archive her scans, prescriptions and lab reports, understand the reasons behind conditions like morning sickness, sleep disturbances, pigmentation and other bodily changes that happen during pregnancy and how to overcome them, also track and monitor weight, belly circumference and more. The mother to be can also use check lists in the app to have reminders and alerts for upcoming appointments, scans and even care logistics. These and features like a pregnancy journal make the app a one stop platform for all her relevant needs”.
“It is altogether an extremely useful and interesting app that gives the pregnant women complete control of the situation and empowers her to enjoy the bliss of motherhood”, said Mr Viswakumaran.
The “WeCare mother and child” app is ready for download in Sri Lanka and is presently available in the English language. It is simple and user friendly, and is yet another initiative by Mega to show the world that it cares for your wellness.
