Minister says consumer goods prices reduced by 17% in 3 months

Minister of Trade and Commerce Wasantha Samarasinghe announced plans to expand the Sathosa retail network to 1,000 outlets nationwide to control prices and provide relief to consumers.

The minister made this statement at the reopening of the renovated Sathosa outlet in Anuradhapura. He highlighted that over the past three months, the government successfully reduced goods prices by 17%.

“We plan to open over 150 new Sathosa outlets in 2025, with the goal of expanding to 1,000 outlets within the next three years. In the past three months, we reduced prices of 40 essential items by 8%, ensuring affordable goods for the public,” the minister said. (NewsWire)
