Mulder explains why He didn’t break Lara’s 400 Record ?

Wiaan Mulder has revealed the thinking behind his decision to declare the innings at 367*, just 34 runs short of breaking Brian Lara’s iconic 400* Test record.

“I thought we had enough and we need to bowl. Secondly, Brian Lara is a legend — let’s be real. He got 401, or whatever it was, against England,” Mulder said.

Reflecting on the moment, the South African all-rounder said he had no regrets and felt that some records are meant to be untouched.

“For someone of that stature to keep that record is pretty special. I think if I get the chance again, I would probably do the same thing,” he added.

Mulder also revealed a conversation with his coach Shukri Conrad: “Speaking to Shuks, he kinda said to me as well: ‘Listen, let the legends keep the really big scores.’”

“You never know what’s my fate, or what is destined for me, but I think Brian Lara keeping that record is exactly the way it should be,” Mulder concluded. (Newswire)
