Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Namal Rajapaksa has accused President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) of undermining the passage of a key bill to amend the Provincial Council Elections Act.
“Ranil and ITAK have sabotaged the passage of the bill to amend the Provincial Council Elections Act without a debate. This was an opportunity missed by both Ranil and ITAK for their own political reasons,” Rajapaksa said.
President Wickremesinghe and ITAK do not genuinely want to hold provincial council elections, despite their public stance on the 13th Amendment, Rajapaksa said.
“Despite their talks about the 13th Amendment at every stage, their actions reveal a different agenda. When I speak out and tell the truth, they label me as the villain. But now, people can see who the real villains are,” he added.
Rajapaksa, asserted that he is honest with the Tamil people, whereas President Wickremsinghe and ITAK have failed to do so, leaving the Tamil community repeatedly misled. (Newswire)
