Namal raises concerns over reports on Easter Attacks probes

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member Namal Rajapaksa has raised concerns over claims regarding the reports related to the 2019 Easter Attacks investigations.

Taking to ‘X’, the former MP said that the release of the Commission report on the Easter Sunday attacks has spiralled out of control.

He further pointed out that the government was yet to locate the missing pages of the report, while there are claims that there are two more unpublished findings.

“The government is acting blind and deaf over releasing the reports with all talk but no action. It is only right that answers are given by the government rather than speculations being rife,” he added.

The former SLPP MP’s comments come after Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader Udaya Gammanpila, during a press conference earlier this week, urged the Government to release two unpublished committee reports on the attacks.

Former MP Gammanpila also warned that if the Government did not release them within a week, he would publish them online.

According to Gammanpila, a portion of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) report into the Easter Sunday attacks had not been presented to Parliament.

He further revealed that the Catholic Church has also claimed two additional unpublished reports prepared by committees led by I.M. Imam and A.N.J. de Alwis.

Responding to Gammanpila, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath called out the former, challenging him to hand over the two said reports to the government. (Newswire)
