Nelum Kuluna : The Sinhala Film making history with Global Remakes

Sri Lankan film Tentigo (Nelum Kuluna) has made history as the first Sri Lankan movie to be remade in multiple languages. The critically acclaimed 2023 Sinhala-language comedy-drama was directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Ilango Ram, who also helmed its first official remake in Tamil as Perusu and in Telugu as Pedha.

The Kannada and Malayalam dubbed versions have also been completed in collaboration with South Indian production house Stone Bench Films.

Both the original Sinhala film and its Tamil remake are now playing in theaters.

A Hindi remake is in development with a renowned North Indian studio, while European adaptations in Spanish, Italian, French, and Belgian languages are also underway. A U.S. remake is set to be produced by a well-known Korean company.
