New Children’s Ward Complex declared open at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital

The four-storey Children’s Ward Complex at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama, which was constructed using the donations of devotees of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Dewalaya, was declared open on Tuesday (Sep 03).

Under the ‘Husma’ project of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the building construction was completed within a period of 10 months using the labour contribution of war veterans.

According to the Sri Lanka Air Force, approximately Rs. 150 million was spent on the construction of this ward complex. 

Built to benefit children suffering from cancer in Sri Lanka, this fully equipped ward complex consisting of 4 floors can treat 70 inpatients and includes state-of-the-art facilities, such as an operating theatre and a children’s garden designed to support mental well-being.

The official handing over of the facility to the community was headed by the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickramarathne, on behalf of the Commander of the Air Force, alongside the Basnayaka Nilame of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Dewalaya, Mr. Dishan Gunasekara. (Newswire)
