New Govt orders special inquiry into 7 high-profile cases

The Ministry of Public Security has instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to expedite investigations into seven high-profile cases.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson, these cases include:

1. The alleged Central Bank Bond scam (2015)

2. The Easter Sunday terror attacks

3. The alleged kidnapping and murder of journalist D.P. Sivaram (April 28, 2005)

4. The disappearance of Lalith Kumar and Kugan Muruganandan (December 9, 2011)

5. The disappearance of Vice Chancellor Sivasubramaniam Raveendranath in 2006

6. The alleged suicide of Dinesh Schaffter

7. A shooting incident outside the W15 hotel in Weligama
