NPP MP Vijitha Herath has confirmed that Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) is ahead by 1.3 million votes in the first count, ensuring an unassailable lead in the second count of the presidential election.
Following the confirmation of his victory, Dissanayake is set to take his oath of office in a simple ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat.
According to NPP’s Samantha Vidyarathne, the newly elected president will temporarily appoint a Secretary to the President and 15 ministry secretaries as his first administrative action. (Newswire)
