Election monitoring bodies have raised concerns over the National All Ceylon Nursing Conference held under the patronage of National Peoples Power (NPP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Maharagama on Sunday.
In a letter to the Election Commission, the Campaign for Free & Fair Election (CAFFE) pointed out the attendance of government nursing staff in uniform at the conference.
CAFFE pointed out that using uniforms provided via state funds for election propaganda was unethical and unlawful under the election laws.
Also, in a letter to the National Election Commission, the People’s Action for Free & Fair Elections (PAFFREL) highlighted that the incident was a violation of election laws. (Newswire)
