More than 300 suspects were arrested during a large-scale joint operation carried out on July 4 across Kandana, Ja-Ela, Wattala, and Ragama, the Ministry of Public Security confirmed.
The operation involved the Sri Lanka Police, Special Task Force (STF), Army, and Navy, and targeted a wide range of unlawful activities including narcotics-related offenses.
Authorities said the crackdown was launched in response to recent violent incidents and aimed at restoring public safety in high-risk areas. Roadblocks and sudden inspections were conducted throughout the night across key routes.
The Ministry urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement as similar island-wide operations are planned in the coming weeks to curb crime and drug-related activity. (Newswire)
