Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the SAFF U-19 Championship 2025, set to take place from 9th to 18th May at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium in Yupia, India.
The team features a mix of local talent and overseas-based players, marking a new chapter in youth football for the island nation.
Four overseas-based Sri Lankan nationals — Omith Edirisinghe, Ayman Zawahir, Zakariyya Zafarullah, and Abdallah Faiz Nassim — have been included in the lineup, bringing valuable international experience to the squad.
The Football Federation of Sri Lanka says the team is aiming for a competitive run in the tournament, with preparations already underway. Sri Lanka will look to make a strong impression against regional heavyweights, including defending champions India.
The SAFF U-19 Championship is the premier youth football tournament in South Asia, and Sri Lanka’s squad is expected to bring both passion and a renewed sense of purpose to this year’s campaign. (Newswire)
