Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, engaged in separate discussions with the representatives of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) and the Association of Medical Specialists (AMS) on October 24, focusing on the challenges facing Sri Lanka’s healthcare sector.
In the first meeting, the GMOA delegation, led by President Dr. Sanjeeva Tennakoon and Secretary Mr. Prabhath Sugathadasa, presented the association’s future plans aimed at sustaining quality health services in the country. The Prime Minister paid close attention to the difficulties faced by doctors and the broader issues impacting the healthcare system. The discussions centered on collaborative efforts to ensure effective health services across the nation.
In a subsequent meeting, the AMS, represented by President A.D.K.S. Yasawardena and Secretary Gnanasekaram, highlighted the challenges encountered by specialist doctors working in government hospitals. The AMS delegation emphasized the need for policy adjustments to address these issues and ensure the efficient delivery of specialized medical services to the public.
Both meetings, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, underscored the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of healthcare professionals and improving the country’s health sector.
