A Gazette notification has been issued summoning all the members of the Armed Forces for the maintenance of Public Order in specific areas.
Under the Public Security Ordinance, the Gazette has been issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, with effect from Tuesday, 27 August 2024.
Accordingly, members of the Sri Lanka Army, the Sri Lanka Navy, and the Sri Lanka Air Force have been summoned for this purpose.
The Gazette makes way for the deployment of the Army, Navy, and Air Force to exercise police powers in maintaining public security in Administrative Districts and territorial water adjacent to such Districts.
