Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa has criticized the current government’s inability to control the rising cost of living.
He emphasized that the government’s mismanagement of economic policies has led to shortages of food and other essential items, making it difficult for the public to afford basic necessities.
According to Premadasa, the recent surge in food prices has caused severe hardships for citizens struggling to make ends meet.
Despite promises made during the election campaign to build a country where people could thrive, Premadasa pointed out that skyrocketing food prices have made it impossible for many to survive.
He noted that the reduction in income sources and diminishing financial stability have compounded the struggles of everyday life. In such a situation, he highlighted that people are now forced to wait in long queues just to purchase essential food items at a reasonable price.
Premadasa made these comments during a public meeting held in Avissawella today. He further stated that under an SJB-led government, they would implement robust economic policies to control prices and ensure the availability of essential goods.
He pledged to create a government that focuses on the welfare of the country’s 22 million people, ensuring a period where essential goods are affordable, leading to a better standard of living.
He also criticized the current administration, saying that misleading the public for power must come to an end. Premadasa affirmed that the SJB’s vision is to build a prosperous nation free of corruption and fraud, offering a brighter future for all Sri Lankans. (Newswire)
