Ragging allegation: CID investigates student’s death; 20 questioned so far

The Acting Inspector General of Police has directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to probe the sudden death of a Sabaragamuwa University student, who reportedly died by suicide following alleged ragging.

Police said 20 students have been questioned so far as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are working to determine if ragging directly contributed to the death and to identify those responsible.

The Ministry of Higher Education has also launched a parallel inquiry into the incident. (Newswire)
