Ranil questioned by Bribery Commission

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appeared before the Bribery Commission to provide a statement regarding his special statement on Badulla District MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

Last week, the former President informed the Bribery Commission through his Attorney that he would appear today, after having announced his unavailability for a previously allocated date.

Ranil Wickremesinghe has been summoned before the Bribery Commission to record a statement regarding the special statement he made on Badulla District MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake following the latter’s arrest over financial misappropriation.

MP Chamara Samapath Dassanayake is currently under remand custody over corruption charges related to the alleged misappropriation of funds from the Provincial Council fixed deposit with a state bank.
