Actor-turned-politician Ranjan Ramanayake says he is currently looking at the possibility of his franchise rights, under the circumstances of his Presidential pardon.
Speaking to the media, the former Parliamentarian said that he has been advised by the Election Commission to bring the necessary documents related to the Presidential pardon for a discussion.
He further said that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had made available the necessary documents, which he had collected from the President’s office today.
Ranjan Ramanayake revealed that he was studying the clauses of the Presidential pardon to understand the civil rights awarded under it, as it was hampering several activities such as overseas tours, health insurance, etc.
In January 2021, Ranjan Ramanayake was sentenced to four years of Rigorous Imprisonment by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka for contempt of court. (Newswire)
