Reducing Electricity bill : CEB wants advice from Finance Ministry

The Ministry of Energy announced that electricity tariff recommendations from the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will be implemented after formal approval.

The Ministry of Energy stated that the recommendations will be implemented once officially communicated, following advice from the Ministry of Finance.

The reduction in electricity tariffs has been announced at a time when the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had proposed that tariffs should not be reduced for the next 06 months.

However, the PUCSL submitted a counter proposal, after which it conducted public consultations on the matter from 17 December 2024 to 10 January 2025.
