Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa and NPP MP L.M. Abeywickrama have been elected as the Co-Chairs of the Caucus on Climate for the 10th Parliament of Sri Lanka.
According to a Parliament statement, the first meeting to re-establish the Caucus on Climate for the 10th Parliament was held last week (Jan 08).
SJB MP Nalin Bandara and NPP MP Asitha Niroshana Egoda Vithana were elected as the Deputy Co-Chairs of the Caucus.
Additionally, SJB MP Rohini Kumari Wijerathna and NPP MP Anushka Thilakarathne were elected as the Co-Conveners of the Caucus.
Addressing the Caucus, the Co-Chairs stated that at a time when global attention is focused on climate change, they aim to collectively discuss the impacts of climate change on Sri Lanka and the steps to be taken in response, with a view to implementing future action plans. (Newswire)
