The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Central, Uva, Eastern and North-central provinces and the Mullaittivu and Vavuniya districts.
According to the advisory, effective until 11.30 pm today, amber and red alerts have been issued to several districts.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
