Sirisena refutes claims on Rs. 27.5M President’s Fund Project

Former President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a statement denying allegations linked to the use of Rs. 27.5 million from the President’s Fund for a building project under the Eppawala Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society in Anuradhapura.

Sirisena said the media reports attempting to link him to alleged financial misuse are false and misleading, and that the claims are based on inaccurate and distorted information.

The response comes after a complaint was filed with the FCID alleging misuse of funds during the construction of a multipurpose hall in 2019, when Sirisena was in office. (Newswire)
