The Bambalapitiya Police have arrested six suspects for stealing over Rs. 1 million in cash by threatening and assaulting an individual, who had been lured under the guise of operating a spa.
The suspects had assaulted the victim and threatened him with a knife forcing him to make an online transfer of Rs. 01 million, while they had also stolen Rs. 15,000 that was inside the victim’s wallet.
Based on a complaint filed with the Bambalapitiya Police on the robbery which took place last Friday, an investigation had been launched leading to the arrest of a couple.
The couple, a man aged 44 years and a woman aged 54 years, had been arrested along with the three-wheeler used to carry out the crime.
Interrogation of the suspect had led to the arrest of four more suspects, aged between 19 to 23 years, and residents of the Ratmalana and Mount Lavinia areas.
