Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Karunarathna Paranawithana took oaths as a Member of Parliament before Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena in Parliament today.
SJB MP Karunarathna Paranawithana fills the vacancy that was created following the resignation of former SJB MP Thalatha Atukorale.
Addressing Parliament on August 21, Thalatha Atukorale announced that she would be resigning as a Member of Parliament, citing various differences of opinion within the party.
Following her resignation, SJB MP Karunarathna Paranawithana was next in line to enter the Parliament to fill the vacancy.
MP Karunarathna Paranawithana was at the forefront of the SJB’s list of members from the Ratnapura District.
Karunarathna Paranawithana is the Politburo Chairperson of the Eksath Janaraja Peramuna (EJP) led by MP Patali Champika Ranawaka. (Newswire)
