The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) unveiled its policy for empowering the disabled community at an event in Colombo. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa announced plans to establish a Presidential Task Force dedicated to safeguarding the rights of Sri Lanka’s 1.6 million disabled citizens.
Premadasa emphasized the need for a comprehensive national policy and pledged to introduce a 3% employment quota for the disabled, increase allowances, and remove taxes on essential equipment. He also promised insurance coverage and eased access to bank loans for the disabled, along with special training and education programs.
This policy aims to ensure inclusivity and development for the disabled community under a SJB government.
