Security forces and police launched a sudden joint operation in Ragama, Kandana, and Wattala areas on the night of July 4, following two recent fatal shootings.
Troops from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Special Task Force (STF), and the Police were deployed to carry out comprehensive checks on all vehicles and individuals traveling through the areas. The operation aimed to ensure security in the wake of escalating violence.
On July 3, two individuals were shot dead in separate incidents reported from Ragama and Kandana, prompting heightened security measures across surrounding suburbs.
Authorities say the sudden search and roadblocks are part of broader efforts to restore public safety and trace suspects linked to the shootings. (Newswire)
