President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced yesterday that the Budget 2025 will be presented to Parliament in February or March next year. The announcement was made during the inaugural General Election rally of the National People’s Power (NPP) in Tangalle.
During his address, President Dissanayake revealed that a Vote on Account will be introduced in December, ensuring the necessary financial provisions until the full budget is tabled.
The President highlighted that the upcoming budget is expected to include salary increments for state sector employees, alongside a special allowance for those who in need.
Additionally, Dissanayake said that the government’s intention to renegotiate several agreements that are currently seen as disadvantageous to the country. He noted that the relevant parties involved in these agreements have already been informed of this decision. (NewsWire)
