Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry says measures are being carried out to provide the necessary assistance to Sri Lankans residing in Lebanon, in the face of the security situation in the country, which it said was volatile and constantly evolving.
Issuing a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut is maintaining constant contact with Sri Lankan Associations and individual Sri Lankans registered with the Embassy.
Ambassador Kapila Jayaweera and officers of the Sri Lanka Embassy are providing assistance to Sri Lankans as required.
Apart from a few Sri Lankans who have been stranded and for whom the Embassy has arranged shelter, no Sri Lankans have been seriously affected by the situation so far, the ministry added.
The measures come after the Israeli military launched a ground invasion in southern Lebanon recently. (Newswire)
