Sri Lanka’s overall inflation rate, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), decreased to 1.1% in August 2024, down from 2.5% in July, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.
Food inflation also dropped to 2.3% from July’s 2.9%, while the non-food group saw a slight increase in inflation, rising to 0.2% in August from 2.2% in July. The NCPI for August stood at 204.1, marking a decrease of 2.8 index points compared to the previous month.
