Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets saw a significant increase of 5.3% in August 2024, reaching USD 5.95 billion, up from USD 5.65 billion in July, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
This rise includes proceeds from a currency swap with the People’s Bank of China (PBOC), equivalent to around USD 1.4 billion.
However, the CBSL noted that the usability of these funds is subject to specific conditionalities. (Newswire)
