St. Peter’s College, Colombo, has announced its withdrawal from the ongoing Sri Lanka Schools Dialog Under-19 Knockout Rugby Tournament (2025 Presidents Trophy). In a letter to the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association, the college cited the need to investigate various allegations against some players that have circulated widely in the media.
The letter, signed by Rector Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo, noted that while the college is committed to upholding its values and ensuring fairness, it was “reluctantly compelled” to withdraw its team pending inquiries.
This development comes amid reports of an incident involving a 15-year-old rugby player and several senior players, which has raised serious concerns within the school rugby community. (Newswire)
