Sri Lankan actor and journalist Sudaththa Thilakasiri has sent a legal notice to Musician Iraj Weeraratna, accusing him of defamation and seeking Rs. 50 million in damages for harm caused to his reputation.
The notice, issued through Attorney-at-Law Praveena Senadheera, alleges that a live broadcast aired on the “Iraj Show” YouTube channel on February 23, 2025, included false and vulgar remarks about Thilakasiri, his spouse, and others, in connection with a purported sex scandal.
It claims the content was deliberately intended to humiliate him and has caused immense public backlash, severely damaging his personal and professional reputation.
The letter further states that the promotional trailer for the broadcast mocked Thilakasiri using adult content themes and falsely portrayed him as a “laundry machine” for the government. It also says his spouse was left mentally traumatized and required medical attention after the broadcast.
Thilakasiri demands that all related content be removed from social media platforms, and that compensation be paid for the reputational damage caused. Legal action will be taken if the demands are not met. (Newswire)
